June favourites, and not so favourites.

Monday, 30 June 2014
Hello everyone!
I haven't done a favourites post since January and I always tell myself each month that I will do one but then when it comes round to it I realise I've stuck myself in a routine and have never tried anything new. So as my birthday was this month there's a few presents that have been put in there and also some things that I have bought throughout the month. I also thought that it would be nice to throw in a dislikes as well just incase you were thinking of buying a product and need to know how it works.

Beauty Favourites.

1. This is my very first Mac eyeshadow pallet and yes it has made an excellent first impression. I love the fact that its long wearing and there's no fall down to the product. My everyday makeup I will only wear neutral and earthy tones so once this pallet is complete thats what you should expect to see. The two colours in this pallet are Antiqued and Cork.
2. Next is just a double sided angled and crease brush from superdrug. My real techniques brushes are with the postman on their way to me and I needed a cheap substitute until they arrived and for £2.99 I'd say this brush does an excellent job.
3. This month I turned 19 and to be honest I've been celebrating it for weeks on end. I've been to all sorts of events where I have been dressing up and like wise I wanted a little bit of glitz in my makeup as well. These glitter shadows/pigments from Bareminerals are beautiful. They are easy to apply, admittedly there is some fall down but it can just be wiped away in an instant and look lovely to put into the inner corners of your eye. These colours are nude beach and true gold.
4. Now this is probably an obvious thing that everyone should own but I have never owned a pair or eyelash curlers and now I have some my brain can't work out how I ever lived without them.
5. Finally is something I thought would never be in my makeup collection never mind a favourites video and that is the Eylure individual lashes. I hate false eyelashes, I can't apply them and when I do they just close my eye and make me look like a man in drag so I just avoid them at all cost. However these individual lashes are so easy to apply and you can control how full your lashes look. I'm a changed woman.

Random Favourites.

1. My only love for Jack Wills is for their underwear. With the sale currently on I bought this cotton bra and brief set for only £15 so I was a happy chap and am even more happier at bedtime now.
2. Tea in summer!? Yes. I'm from England I drink tea until it comes out of my nose. I do like normal tea but when I have the choice I will always pick a fruity green tea. These pots of tea are lovely and not like your standard brew. It's a powdered tea that you just add boiling water to so there's no messing with tea bags and they are so rich in flavour. I think it's time to put the kettle on now.
3. A cheap and cheerful satchel. How could this not be in a favourites post? Its pastel coloured and was only £6, do I have to say any more?
4. Last of all is the Babyliss curling wand. My hair is naturally curly but there are days when it just does not behave itself. I have never loved my hair straight and haven't owned a pair of straighteners for well over a year now but I decided that a curling wand would come in very handy. My best friend kindly bought me some for my birthday and I now love her eternally because I love them!

What I am not loving.

1. Tresemme heat defence styling spray. I don't know if I am doing something wrong with this? I bought it to use with my curlers but when I spray it on my hair it just goes greasy. I don't know if it is something to do with my hair type or what but this does not work well on my hair.
2. Matte and Messy salt spray from L'Oreal. Some of you may be confused because I have mentioned this in previous hair tutorial posts. I bought this when it first came out and it lasted me up until a month ago when it finally ran out. When I bought some more I noticed the packaging had changed slightly. I don't know if they have changed the product slightly or what but it is definitely not the same as what I had before. It dries my hair so much and again makes my hair look greasy and just generally horrible.
3. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. This makes me so sad to have this in the dislikes section because I've heard such good reviews about it but after buying it 3 month ago and only being on chapter 15 I have finally decided to give up. Nothing happens. It is a beautifully written book and if you love a cute romance then this would probably up your street but for me by the time I reach chapter 15 I want something exciting to be happening and that just hasn't happened in this book. If anyone has read it and I'm close to an exciting part then I may consider carrying on but if not I'm just passing it off as a waste of time and thats saying a lot from me as I'm not one to give up on a book.

  1. Love your blog! I've always wanted to try individual lashes and now hearing that they aren't that scary has given me a reason to purchase some, thank you :)
